Read a post somewhere that said that the gq chassis height was relatively low. Comparing the gq to say a Pajero or even a landcruiser 80, I would have to say at least the gq would be on par with these vehicles. Also read on a site some time ago some specs on the gq. The rampover angle on the gq lwb was 30 degrees. The ute was 31 and the swb was 32. Comparing these stats to other 4bys, I found out that only the swb lr defender 90 had a better rampover angle. The rampover angle to me is an indication of chassis height, especially in a lwb vehicle. Anybody agree with the lowness of the gq? Or did the writer have saggy springs?

GQ's look lower as the chassis is more tucked up into the body than say an 80. This makes the body look lower however the chassis height is much of a muchness. Saggy springs are common and dont help either..........
The reality is that a GQ is about as good offroad as a standard vehicle gets (I wish I still had mine), the numbers are just numbers.

ramp over angle will change with wheel base
using defender as an example comparing swb 90/lwb 130
same wheels
same
same chassis height (at centre)
130 will have poorer angle because the wheels are further apart.
also some 4by's have transfers/ that sit lower than the chassis, and in the middle of the wheel base, which will lower again the
dunno where you live, but there must be a car yard nearby, grab a tape measure and measure heights so you can have your own usable data, just a thought

Not sure what you mean by chassis height. Diff ground clearance is 235mm. The chassis height would depend on the size of the wheels. My GQ has a 2 inch lift and I run 7.50x16 tyres and have Polyairs on the rear(in the past I have run 265x75x16 tyres). So the body sits up high enough for me. Have at times dragged the arse end of the truck through obstacles(like gullies) but that was while doing some extreme stuff with trailer in tow.

Rampover could depend on what the length of the wheelbase is.

Some GQ owners could be running 15" wheels and lower profile tyres which would make the truck sit a tad lower than needed.
