Hi all, I was wondering if anyone here has had first hand experience with this product? It makes some big claims plus my daughters mechanic boyfriend swears by it in his wild V8 commodore, he claims a reduction of 20 degrees measured with a infared temp gauge. Any experiences would be great to hear about. From what I have heard all ready It seams like a goer, but if it sounds to good to be true then it usually is.
Cheers Stefan

It does work, I've been using it in the Humvee for several years, not because I had a problem but rather to see if I could reduce the cooling fan run time, it sounds like a jumbo taking off when the clutch locks up. It did achieve a big decrease in fan run times to the stage that in winter the fan will not come on at all at highway speeds, the air coming through is enough to cool it.
There are actually two types, the red one and a
grey one specifically designed for diesels in big trucks, usually european models.
I've been using the
grey diesel one but the redline tech guys say to use the red one except in big trucks. In a word yes it does work.

That should have been part of the question, the redline web site says the red is for all types of vehicles and the
grey is for diesels, from what I read I was going to get the red one and you just confirmed that for me thanks.

the red one is also quite a bit cheaper and easier to get than the
grey one too.

O.K last question for you pete as you have been a great help already, Do you run it as a stand alone product or do you mix with traditional coolant? web site says you can do both so was wondering which way you do it?
Cheers

I always put it in with the correct coolant as it isn't really antifreeze or coorosion inhibitor but does have some inhibitors in it.

I've been using it for some years with great results on my Patrol.
I use with a little glycol (approx 15%) for just a little antifreeze protection- would not be any good for winters in the southern highlands etc.

PS
The higher percentage
water you can run, the better cooling you'll get.
(Some think Glycol helps cooling- it actually hinders it due to less calories or kilojoules needed to heat a given volume of Glycol versus
water.)
Water is the best coolant, but obviously additives are needed for antifreeze and anti corrosion.
Some years ago I helped an old guy in a cruiser which was constantly overheating (hot day, big load, tired engine.)
We dumped most of his coolant which contained I believe far too much Glycol, and filled with fresh
water. Result was he got home and was then able to do an overhaul incl recored radiator.
Cheers

The blue redline
water wetter does not contain corrosion inhibitor, the pink does. I have not used the redline inhibitor yet but I have started using the Penrite non-glycol 'racing coolant'. So far so good.

Forgot to add, yes as above I have found to to do some good as on hot days my fan run time has decresed, today its 40, I had the aircon on and the fan only came on when stopped once moving it would turn off after 30 seconds
cheers Stefan
