Hi all,

Unofortunately, I think this is a bit of a flow on from my post 40058...

As a result of accessories fitted (I presumed), I had an extra earthing cable run by my Nissan dealer. For 2 weeks or so, running everything without the slightest suggestion of a hitch with the sub tank.

As Murphy's Law has deemed appropriate, we left for our 6 months on the road on 27th December - and on 29th - in Esperance - hey presto - sub tank light on. Rest of car is working faultlessly. Seems to have happened again per my initial post issue - something to do with interior light. We had been fishing. My wife turned interior light on, I went to start car - and there was the sub tank light.

I have tried disconnecting the battery to reset the sub tank computer, but light is still there.

Sub tank is full of fuel - and I did use the sub-tank fuel on the way down to Esperance without issue.

At probably the worst time of year, no-one is around ot help. I have tried Esperance Autos (no mechanic until Tuesday), auto electricians (no answer) and so forth to get ideas to see if there is anything else I can do.

We move on tomorrow - heading further East, so I will just use main tank until I can work out what to do. That is where EO forum comes in - is there anything else I can try to reset the sub-tank?

Also - what other options can you suggest. Can you replace main and sub with one tank? Has anyone done this is 3l GU Patrol? What is cost etc?

Any ideas appreciated - very annoying to see on the dash - with no means of getting rid of it.

Thanks

Alan

Alan,
Had similar prob with 2.8 a few weeks ago. Removed shield from around transfer pump, disconnected electrical connector near pump and fed it with 12 volts from lighter socket. A bit fiddly as it's not a fast pump but keeps things going when you need to be using sub-tank. I was fortunate enough to have my pootr reset by method you've described.
One thought, you did leave battery disconnected for long enuff to reset??
Hopefully you don't have a dikt transfer pump as I believe genuine is not cheap.

Good luck,

Can you use the sub tank at all? If not and it got desperate I would use the rewire alternative above

If the sub tank light coming on and not pumping fuel to the injectors?
Maybe it might be something simple like a fuse or a dirty connection or loose as a result of the new wiring.
Hope you get it sorted easily.
Have a good trip.

Yes as suggested check all fuses!
If you are towing the standard fuses are under rated for the job, parkers/stops/tails etc
