Hi All, We have purchased a Coleman Hot
Water on Demand system a couple weeks ago and used it twice but now wont go. The only thing I have done to it was change the regulator setting on the accessory mains pressure adapter to provide more pressure. I have a 9KG gas bottle attached. I can hear the sparky thingyme fire and
water flows but no fire up of the gas. I have changed the flow regulator back down but still no joy. As we are on holidays I haven't as yet seen an agent, but I thought the gurus on this
forum may fire me up?

Can you actually see the spark from the piezo igniter or not. Maybe it has moved a fraction and is not directly in line with the main burner or not working at all. Just a guess.I dont have the coleman I have the primus one but it might help you out. We had a similiar problem with our hot
water system at home when I was trying to light it the igniter wasnt inline so grabbed the good old lighter and lit it directly but I still had to lighn it up properly as there is a little probe thingy no idea what its called but it detects the heat from
the pilot light in case main flame goes out it stops the gas flowing through bit of a safety thing but probably totally differant to the coleman set up. Hope fully this helps a bit nothing worse than no hot
water. Might have to get the old billy out and boil her up. Regards Steve M

Sorry just thought about it and yours is electronic isnt it. Push the big dial in and she spits out the sparks battery operated. So disregard what I said as it would all mean jack sh@t. Regards Steve M

Thanks Steve,
I may just get the blow torch out!!
I am a bit worried about splitting the two outer casings as this damages a sticker. That may make my warranty void.
Yes
mine is battery operated

I presume you checked that the battery is fully charged? You said that the pump is running so it must have some power. Just checking the obvious. I have one of these and love it.

I have one and am not sure whether the 9kg LPG will run the unit. The coleman propane cylinder works spot on every time???

Try turning
the knob right up to high as soon as you turn it on and listen for the burner going, when on full it is easily heard. I had a problem with one that would fire up for about a second but then turn off. My guess was it was a faulty flow sensor as it fired up but thought there was no
water flow so shut the burner down after a few seconds. I took it back to Kmart and got a new one. I've also wound up the regultor a bit and now get good flow when attached to a 12V shurflo pressure pump.

How do you use a 12v pump with it since it's a 6v battery? Is it as simple as plugging it in? Is there any way that the entire system will run of of 12v in stead of just charging off it?

You need to use the mains pressure regulator that is available, it has a solenoid in it that runs off the 6V in the unit, but the pump that feeds the regulator must have it's own power. I use the 12V pump on my camper, as it's a pressure pump it turns off when the unit is turned off as the solenoid shuts off the flow
I have thought of adding a socket so it will run off 12V in emergency's when the battery is flat, but you would need to make something to convert the 12V to 6V, also didn't want to modify the unit as it may affect the lifetime warranty. It's probably easier to carry a spare charged 6V battery.

Hi Wilan,
Try all the things everyone has suggested, but if you don't get it working, take it back to where you purchased it. I own oneof these units, (current one was replaced after secondtrip away) Seems Coleman had a problem with a huge batch of these units, but have replaced all without any worries.
Great after sale service

If the battery wasn't fully charged ours did exactly the same thing. I've replaced the battery since and have also purchased a second battery to keep topped up as a spare. Havn't had an ounce of trouble since. (touch wood). Unc
