When out today and bought myself a Camprite camper trailer. Thanks for all the advise (see post 40732), I took a lot of it on board.

I liked the idea of no canvas on the ground (no sloping or stony ground issues), but the hardfloors had restricted space for 2 kids, thus the Camprite seemed the perfect compromise in the end. A queen size bed plus 2 singles all off the ground and setup in less than 5 minutes makes lots of sense to me. Add in the annexe for longer stays and there is a huge amount of room.

Camprite website
I look forward to many a camping trip in my new (for me) Camprite camper with the family, I'm off this weekend to test it out.

Cheers

Captain

PS. I also checked out Camper Trailers WA (a site sponsor), but they had shut up shop for a week at arguably the busiest time of year. Who knows what I would have bought if they had been open! I know shop owners want their holidays too, but to shut up shop for 2 weeks when you have people on holidays with money in their pockets, well just not good business sense (but Camprite sure appreciate it!)

Far call wrt shutting down a business over Christmas though I can honestly vouch for David and his team at Camper Trailer WA. I purchased my Kimberley Kamper through them in October 2005 and the service before and after purchase has been exceptional....Good luck with the Camprite, they are a very well made trailer......

Hi Teabag,

No disrespect meant for David and his store, I never got the chance to meet him. Their store is less than 1km from my home and it would have been very convenient for me to buy off him, if their campers had suited me.

Captain,

I didn't take it that way, I was just pointing out the David and his team gave us exceptional service before and after purchase. To the point that he went beyond what I expected, great guy with excellent customer service and focus. Again, good luck with the Camprite, they are very good and great quality with a great unique design. I have two good mates that have Camprites and they both praise the camper and it's Off-Road ability. One of my mates has now become a distributer of Camprites in Canberra.....Good luck and Happy Camping. I may be back over the West in 12 months or so and we could possibly catch up for a beverage........

Captain,

Hope you have years of adventure with the new Camprite camper. We looked at the TL8 for about 9 months, but i could not bring myself to pay the $$$$ .

The idea of the kids being off the floor, room to move around and all above ground level is exactly what we wanted.

Which way are you heading this weekend? We are heading south to Lake Jasper for a few days of rest and fun in the bush.

Enjoy,

Chris

Hi Chris,

Camprite happened to have one 18 month old TL8 on the floor with a heap of extras and I was happy enough with the price so within 30 minutes of walking into the showroom it was sold!

I plan to head down Albany way on Saturday but may come back thru Lake Jasper way, will keep an eye out for your rig.

Cheers

Ahh the price, I don't understand why people are normally reluctant to state the price, especially when the new price is on the website so all have a general idea on it anyway.

I paid $21K for an 18 month old unit that appears brand new and has a heap of extras on it (it was the owners sons personal one). I will post some pictures of it shortly.

I looked at the website and it looks like a nice outfit. I like the bedding arrangement with all the beds folding out and off the ground. Do you have the issue with the canvas if wet coming in contact with the bed when folded up?

Hi Leroy,

Yeah, it has the wet canvas issue. But every other type i was looking at also had the same issue so its at no disadvantage compared to others. Just needs some plastic over the beds when its packed away wet.

My Windsor Rapid had a great design so the wet canvas never touched the beds, but it cannot be incorporated into these trailer type designs.

Hi Captain,

Hope the test goes well. When I get my motorhome sold my son and I will buy a CT. The Camprite looks great for the family (2 adults & 3 small girls) but how do you think it would be for me & SWMBO? We are "getting on a bit" & used to the comforts of a motorhome. Your opinion would be appreciated. (Or anyone else who might have an opinion).

Cheers, John L.

Hi John,

If you like the comforts of a motorhome, then I don't think any camper trailer will really suit your needs. The one exception to that is the Kimberley Kamper - it has a porcelain vacuum toilet, shower, hot water on tap, microwave etc... and a price to match that starts at $54K. It certainly has the creature comforts but one big price tag.

Depending on how off-road you want to go, you may be better off with an offroad caravan. They will never go as far off-road, but you can get any and every creature comfort - as far as your budget will allow!

Cheers

Hi Roachie,

Thanks mate, hopefully we will get across to SA one day and catch up for a cold one.

Like any new toy, I have a bit of customising to do - but not as much as your new toy is going to take. But I am sure you are having as much fun as me doing all the things that simply "must" be done.

Cheers

Hi Captain,

Congratulations on the new addition. At least you won't need special wheels to park this new camper in the garage ... LOL.

I had a look at the TL8 at the recent 4WD show - looks to be a great unit. I'm sure you'll get many enjoyable trips from it. Have fun down south - given the storms I hope it comes with floaties!

Hi hugh,

Thanks for that. Currently its parked inside again, but we have coverted that area to a full home gym. But by pushing a few things aside I have squeezed it back in for now. It will have to normally live outside and will make a lean-to to keep it under cover.

Cheers
