I always talk of fuel consumption in terms of litres per 100 km. Don't really know why, just happened that way. But others sometimes use other terms. Here are a couple of easy to use conversions.

1. To convert litres/100 km to kms/litre divide 100 by the litres per 100 km
e.g. 15 lit/100km = 100 divided by 15 = 6.67 kilometers per litre
2. To convert litres/100 km to miles per gallon divide 284 by the litres per 100 km
e.g. 15 lit/100km = 284 divided by 15 = 18.9 miles per gallon

No it won't! I still need a calculator for some calculations.....

Why not just post the other formulas here for all to see and search for in the future?

G'day Pesty,

Haven't seen you for a while, your right, it must be time to get together again.
Haven't seen Roachie either.

We were down at Clare to do the wineries in November and drove through your town to get back via Koolunga, the Overlander 4WD Club from Adelaide were there too.

Anyway, thanks for the good wishes, and all the best to you and Mrs Pesty.

Hope to catch ya somewhere this year.
I believe there might be an invite for your club to meet up with ours down the YP this year anyway.

Geoff.

John,

I just thought it would help some people, if it doesn't suit you then you don't have to use it, as for your comments, they are just as crappy.

Hi John and Heather,
All the best for the festive season to you both.

WOW slow down mate, think Geof was just refering to the table thats there.
Now as for me I have 2 hiclones and they have to be one of the best additions I have ever made to the naturally aspirated diesel, besides a small increase in performance in the higher rev range, they give me in excess of an extra K per litre, so at my 50,000 k a year plus, lifting it from 5k per litre to 6 k per litre takes fuel consumption from 10,000 litres to 8,333 litres, a saving of over 1660 lites a year, and at $ 1.25 to be generous, usually more than that up here, savings of over 2 grand a year.
I know there are some vehicles that they make no difference to, but not all of them.
Even if it was only half the saving i say, its still over a grand a year !!!
Good start to beer money!
They cost me $260 1/4 of a million k's ago, you do the sums, in your head? LOL

Cheers Mate, Pesty

I like to talk in MPG and I know why, cos I'm old. When you fill up if you divide the kilometres travelled by the litres to fill up and multiply by 2.8247358 = MPG.
