This is the answer I got from Work Health regarding filling your gas bottles from another bottle in the NT. RE - Post Id. 40814
Quote-
No licence is required for cylinders under 25L.
However I would reiterate that decanting between two cylinders has many high
risks associated. Also decanting shall be limited to cylinders that are fitted
with an appropriate fixed liquid level gauge, incorporating a vapour release
mechanism.
.......................................................................................................................
As like anything these days there are a ton of rules and regulations that go with the above regarding WHERE you can do it!
All fittings to meet Australian standards and welding to be carried out by someone qualified.
These rules apply in the NT so
check your own states Regs.

Tooooooooooooo simple Hairy, too simple....Now my understanding is that all LPG cylinders sold in Australia have to meet the standards and that includes the internal tube that prevents overfilling & the over pressure release or "Safety Valve"... Just take your cylinders to
Mataranka ( the never never) to do it....

Gday Mr Fawlty,
Getting the info out of Work Health was a bit like getting blood out of a stone.
Their standard answer was "due to this being an extremely dangerous process I strongly advise you against doing it!"
My standard answer was " yes ma mm Im familiar with the process, but the question is, is it LEGAL"
Then I was told they need more info, I responded with a few scenarios only to get.... "due to this being an extremely dangerous process I strongly advise you against doing it!"
Eventually I recieved the posted reply, with a paragraph at the bottom infering most bottles wouldnt have one of these safety devices.
I explained to her what I believed them to be and I think she feels a little better now!
Lucky we have professionals like these looking after our best interests hey.
Cheers

Maybe this sort of response is typical of "territory" governments....Getting any sense out of Jon Stanhopeless is the same...

Why bother asking. I take responsibility for myself, blow the regulations.
