G'Day all,

I am wondering if anyone out there has any great ideas on where to mount a hilift jack, particularly on a HILUX.

Cheers,
Qld wanderer.

I used to keep mine bolted to the tray up againsed the cab.
After a while you wont even notice its there.

Or you can fit them under the tray along the back but id prefer to keep mine out of the dust and mud.

Hi,

Well my mounting solution might not help you as I had a bit of a problem, being a LR Disco Series II owner.

Kamar engineering produce a great little attachment which fits to a rear door spare wheel mount! Unfortunately like most things to do with Series II disco wheels, they dont match any other manufacturers so Kamar don't make one to match. I finally found a mount for my Rhino Racks. The attachment is designed to be used with a two bar setup and makes carting the Jack about trouble free.

Another added advantage of carrying the jack on the roof is that it keeps alot more of the dirt and dust away from the moving parts than if you had it mounted on the rear.

Thanks dolfn,

We have a rhino supplier here so I will see what I can find. Should be better than anything else I have come up with so far.

It wouldnt hurt to wrap the jack in something to keep the dust out, even glad wrap if nothing else !

Hilifts can be dangerous if not working correctly.

If you have an ARB rear step mount it to that (done this on current hilux) or you can make up a bracket to mount it to the ute bar behind the cab (did this on previous hilux). Can supply details of bracket I made if you like. Very easy to make up.

I've got mine mounted behind the bullbar above the winch. Takes a couple of minutes to loosen the bolts to get at it. I carry the handle inside the truck. I muddy conditions I wrap a bit of garbag around the jack mechanism. Always drown it in WD40 before use.Cheers, Willem
