I am looking at upgrading to an NL 3.5litre auto Pajero (140kw)

But dont know what sort of fuel consumption an auto will get around town and on open road - compared to a manual.

Around town 14LT/100K , country 12 or 13LT/100K, this is what i get running tyre pressures at 40psi and driving "conservatively" with a reasonably new air filter fitted.

Both the original 3 L and the 153 kW 3.5 L manuals cross the Simpson on less than 90 L of fuel. That doesn't answer your question but indicates that the vehicle is intrinsically very fuel efficient, especially off road.
