im interested in driving from corryong to omeo in late april. Via the davies plain track.

Not having driven any of this area before im am trying to estimate how far i can travel per day. We were considering staying the first night at the Poplars. and then from there drive thru Omeo and stop at Victoria Falls ? Could somebody please advise if we are trying to drive to far in one day? we are also driving from omeo to marsfield . (this trek is in Explore Australia by 4WD Adventure Treks
By Cathy Savage and Craig Lewis) Any tips on this part of the journey?

Yes it's quite possible in 2 days, just depends a little on what other tracks are taken along the way, how wet it is & how many trees are down. Ulikely as it may seem at the moment in April there is a possibility of snow on the route or the rivers may be up needing detours. High Country driving often requires a wait & see approach being flexable with the route & camp locations.
I must have an earlier edition Explore Aus book as it doesn't show the trek notes of the 2nd half of your route but I assume you meant from Omeo to Mansfield in which case the biggest consideration will be if all the tracks in that area are reopened by then following the fires that are still burning up there. My guess going on the 2003 fires is 1/2 the high country tracks will be opened by Easter with the rest closed till November.
May be prudent to plan an alternate route just in case. Cassilis, Haunted stream & Snowy river all good locations not burning...........yet ;-)
Cheers Craig..............
