Which Snorkel?

I'd like to fit a snorkel to my 2005 3 litre turbo diesel ST Patrol.

So far I have identified 3 options: Nissan original, Safari and TJM
The aim is to improve air flow, keep out dust and lastly raise the inlet for water crossings although there isn't much of that in WA!

Can anyone advise me which one to go for and why? Are there others I should look at?

Go Safari...
If i had the choice i would,....
Nissan is a TJM one anyway....
The Nissan/TJM one cant have the head turned backward which is a pain sometimes...
Safari can do the full Linda Blair....

Safari, for all the reasons above. I have just done 4,500 kms over Xmas with one fitted just before leaving on the trip and have no wind noise or 'droning' either.

Just picked up a safari for my GQ for $160 from a wrecker. Had to be patient but found one in good nick. $50 for some flexible tubing and other goodies and i have a snorkel for 210 bucks. A lot better than $450 for the snorkel alone, let alone another $160 to fit it.

Wendy

I've had both products and haven't had a problem.

I think Truckster is right in that the TJM product won't accept a Donaldson.

As for reversing the head in dusty conditions, I remain unconvinced. All objects create an eddy at speed. The end result is a vacuum which creates a void to be filled. Guess what, dust injection.

Even with a snorkel you'll have to give due regard to the engine air filter. In heavy dust conditions (such as Bull Dust) the primary filter will be clogged and you'll experience heavy fuel usage.

As far as deep water crossings are concerned, check the integrity of the seals and use a water blind if your unsure of depth.

Hope this helps

Regards

Kim
