I'm planning to be down that way in March and wondering does anyone here have any recent knowledge/experience of the roads from Hillston to Gol Gol via Mossgiel. Any special spots/features along this route to Mungo NP?

Thanks in advance for any info

depends on whether you are going Hillston/Mossgeil?Ivanhoe/Menindee/pooncarie/GolGol or Ivanhoe/Balranald/Mungo Loop Road/GolGol.
Suggest you contact Central Darling Shire (0880838900) for road Conditions mossgeil/Ivanhoe/ Menindee etc and Balranald Shire (0350201300) for Ivanhoe to Balranald and Mungo loop. With no rain they will be bulldusty - if it rains could be impassable.
Balranald Shire have a good brochure on the Mungo trip. Wilcannia has some great buidings and is not as bad as has been made out, Menindeee lakes is well worth a look even though they will be abt dry by then,Kinchega nat.park, Menindee is interesting. .Willandra Nat park near Hillston is ok too.
Ivanhoe/Balranald is a much better road, the other way is a more interesting drive.

NRE,

Thanks for the info. The route I'm loking at goes (according to some very generalized maps) from Hillston to Mossgiel, crosses the Cobb Hwy and Balranald Rd, through to Gol Gol and may (???) be another entrance to Mungo NP. By the looks of it, it is unsealed.

I'll contact the Shire councils you have suggested and check it out. Thanks.
