I understand that this is closed at the moment due to bushfires, however does anyone know if the camp grounds along Buckland River have been burnt out at all? Did the fire actually reach the Buckland River along it's length in the state forest?

Planning a trip up there once the area reopens.

Not Positive,

But it looks from the current CFA map pretty grim.

To give you an idea of "reopens" in some areas, Pres of one Vic 4wd club was talkin to ranger at Aberfeldy, and their tracks will be closed until after the seasonal winter closures - NOVEMBER....

I think lots of areas will be the same.

Our local Park Ranger confirmed that not only did the Buffalo fire come back down into the Buckland Valley again, but shortly after the original fire was started by lightning a campfire was left unattended & burnt about 5 hectares before it was brought under control, not that it mattered in the end as the main fire came over into the valley a week later. Fancy lighting a camp fire anyway (30 degrees +) when just a couple of ridges ridges over a 10,000 hectare bush fire is raging!!!!!!!
Going on the 2003 fires which burnt out the Buckland valley, some of the tracks & campsites should be reopened by Easter, the remainder by the November long weekend.
Cheers Craig............
