Hi Arkay,

I have downloaded and run - checked the files went where they should but no luck for me. Still crashes when I try Natmap.

Anything else I should know?

Regards

Can't say, not a professional.
I downloaded the update to a temporary directory rather than run it from their website. When you activate it (run) from the temporary directory if the file is crook it just stops. If ithe file is a good version it comes up with a little window with all the files it is unzipping. On my modern laptop this took less than 3 seconds.
On the Geoscience Australia website they say your Natmap programme MUST be in C: drive and in a directory called C:\Natmap as that is where the update defaults to.
If you have Natmap installed elsewhere try re-installing it under C:\Natmap and try to update that.
The update is a patch for Natmap Raster 2003 only (not 2005 which should be O.K. anyway), and only when running under Microsoft Internet Explorer 7. If you are running Explorer 6 there are some old patches for those too on their website www.ga.gov.au

I was tricked until I realized a bar was coming up warning about direct x that I had to hit twice on the way to getting the maps up. I have IE7 now and same thing. I will fix it soon by going into IE options/tools or what is was and click a couple of items to do with direct until it works properly. Meantime I have downloaded the patch but Natmap is on a hard drive other than C and I am having no joy. I will re intall natmap later today and see what happens then post you again.

If no joy then its time to upgrade to 2005 version which has the maps merged so easy to use oziexplorer with gps.

Further to my last, I removed natmap and did the re install and everything worked fine and didn't even have to make adjustments to IE7.

I will still get the latest version when I am ready to get going again.
