Bag Boy
G'day all, Just regarding work up north (Mackay,Gladston,Rocky etc), the wife and I are planning to head north for a couple of years to work. Being a Mech Fitter, would it be difficult to get work in the mines??? And what mines are the best ones to work for??? We have planned to tow a caravan behind the ute for accomodation if nessesary...
Any advise would be great.
Thanks
BB.

First of all, good on you. I am envious.
I havent got any personal experience with working at the mines in that area (or any other
mine in any other area for that matter), however I do have a mate who went up there looking for work and despite having no formal trade qualifications, he got a job almost immediately, so I would assume that if you have a trade, you will have no problems at all.
Good luck with it.

you can start off with any of the contracting mobs, precise, precision, haines this gives you an oppurtunity to work in different areas and with different companies to see what you like.
my partner is with leightons and has one of the better gigs, under 2hrs drive from
home, 10 mins from
camp to site, four on four off, good pay,
good camp.
Leightons are looking at the moment so take a squiz at thier site for details.
