Hi all just to let you know that I took a rodeo for a run today, and I must say what a little goer. Was very surprised with performance and was actually doing 100 k while on the merging ramp onto the m4. One thing I must say is that the motor noise is a bit intrusive into the cabin and found it revving at 3300 at 110 which I thought was a bit high but other than that good air con nice and cold. Didnt seem to think the turbo had any lag to me anyway,I could here it whistling at about 1200rpm starting to anyway. Very impressed and the owner had set the trip meter when he filled up last time as he always done and it had 637klms on and was about 3 mil from empty reckons he gets 700 around town out of a tank. Have to get wife to sit in passengers side first as she is 6 foot so need to check leg room which has always been an issue with the hilux. Regards Steve M

We told you you'd like it :)

yeah, the cab noise is a little intrusive, one of the perks of being a rodeo owner :) Easily remedied with a little more sound proofing under the floor.

The revs are a little high on rodeos, but yes, around the 3000-3300 is about right. You can get them to rev a little lower by putting bigger tyres on, but that mucks up the gearing a little.

>637klms on and was about 3 mil from empty reckons he gets 700 around town out of a tank

Is it a single or dual cab? The single cabs have the larger tank, so seeing as the single cabs came out woth approx a 70L tank, thats not bad going at 10Km per Litre, very much the same as what my 2002 2.8 gets.

Hope the wife likes it they are a very capable picture, just dont show her my rig pick:)

Stephen M,
What year is the ute you drove?
As stated previously, ours was a '94 model, and turbo lag from start (as at a 'T junction'), was nothing short of bloody dangerous.
I never heard the turbo whine (being geriatric, I suppose).
DO recognise TF Rodeo rattle at servos, etc, because it was a good friend for a long time.
Unless some prick cons you (as in a rebadged Hi-Luckless), then you must be onto a good thing. Let's know how you go.JH.

Hi Steven,
3300 @ 110 seems a bit high to me, my RA is doing about 2400 @ 110 (auto 4 speed) the noise seems to fade on mine once it has warmed up, can be a bit loud with the window/s open when cold though. Just turn up the radio a bit more and shut the window lol.
Certainly noisier than the V6 petrol I had before the TD and not as.
Mine is still over 10 per 100 but it hasn't ticked over the 7000 yet, will today as I am about to leave for Melbourne in a few minutes.

regards
Shane

Isuzu Autos, be it rodeos or Jackeroos, have always revved lower than the 2.8 Td.

3300 is pretty standard

That sounds about right for the jacks, wish the rodeo revved that low

Should have stated in original follow up 2.8 Td manual rodeo

Glad you liked the rodeo Stephen. I own a 1996 with 190000 on the clock. It has never missed a beat and owes me nothing. They are a bit of a slug off the mark but once they hit 60kph and up they have no problem overtaking and keeping up with most of the traffic.

A pic of mine can be seen here

Good luck!
