After some additional offline
feedback I have found and fixed the 800x600 menu problem. Thanks Alan for your emails.
To those that had the problem - simply use Refresh on any page of ExplorOz and the menu should appear again.
NOTE: This only effected users running 800x600 resolution.

Thanks David - that's better. Once again you have found a cure so we on 800x600 can still view the site same as everyone else.

Hello Dave - actually happens occasionally on my machine as
well - IE7 + 1280 x 1024 screen resolution - (not sure if it happens in Mozilla as I switch between two sometimes)....anyway, refresh always fixes it.
Cheers

Greg,
I have not yet loaded IE7 so I cannot be 100% sure myself - I will download it next week and see what happens. Thanks for the
feedback and the CD's from the other day.

Hi Greg ,
I remember you gave me lots of help with my GPS and now I have loaded Ozexplorer etc on a laptop . Can you tell me the best way to power this in the car please . ie Can I leave an inverter on all day in the car , or is this a big drain on the battery .
Thanks a lot ,
Willie .

Hello Willie - probably should start a new thread as Dave may get annoyed (doesn't pay to get on the wrong side of the "boss" under any circumstance) - anyway will take a chance since I'm here. Probably been discussed before so do a
forum search for more expert opinion....If you already have an inverter then I see no issue with running it while driving to power laptop as car power system will keep up no worries. While it can be argued that it is inefficient (power lost as heat through conversion process) it is of no significance in this case. May be a different story if you were parked up for a day or two but same applies to anything drawing off batteries (ie be prepared). There are DC auto adapters for laptops (converts ~ 12V to 15 to 24V which is what they require not 240V) more efficient energy wise but if you already have an inverter not worth cost. There is apparently an issue with type of inverter though - make sure the one you use outputs "pure sine wave" as opposed to "modified sine wave"...but I have read conflicting reports (ie dont matter) - if in doubt use pure.
Cheers

Thanks Greg . Why do they make computers 16 volt instead of 12 volt - bloody frustrating . I already have the correct kind of inverter , I had just hoped to somehow wire the puter straight into the system . But it is not to be .
Cheers ,
Willie .

Willie - It is possible to run laptops direct from car battery (ie~12V) despite them having rating of higher volts - some issue with battery on laptops not charging in some circumstances due to lower volts? Not sure if this is a universal issue. No idea what would be a safe way of setting up a safe direct connection - suspect having laptop plugged in and on then starting car would not be a good idea. Sure there are others on
forum who know better - do a search/start a thread?
Cheers

Hi David
I'm on 1224x768 wide screen and there is no problems, it just don't fill the screen by about an inch each side but all the photo's are not stretched in any way , I have been changing some of my web pages to the same , I don't know what they look like on a square screen . link to my Map and GPS page

Browser remembering of a password is different to the remember me function of the
logon screen. The browser remember will only remember the details for the specific
logon page and auto add then them in the fields when you connect to the page - effectively then you only need to hit submit when you connect to the page - but you will be taken to the
logon page.
Remember Me - Auto
logon that I have installed uses a cookie on your computer to store your details - Every time you connect to ExplorOz this information is read from your computer and auto logs you one without have to see the
logon page.
