OME are an ordinary shock that do an average job. If they work for you I'd say don't bother changing them. If you want something a little longer lasting with better handling the adjustable (& rebuildable) Koni's are a quality unit & I've found them to work very
well in both the high country & outback. Bilsteins probably are a higher performance shock again with their variable valving giving excellent handling & the Fox shocks are in a class of their own & are really intended for competition use although I've seen them work very
well on extreme trips like the Madigan crossing over the Simpson. Although I've had no direct experience with the other 2, I have been told by those 'In the know' they are nothing special. Another shock probably worth a look at are Ridepro, a big
bore heavy duty unit that is surprisingly
well priced.
Cheers Craig.........

I put OME on the 79series 2 years ago after a couple of friends had them on their 78/79's for over 100,000k without a problem. They also make very good leaf springs. I've only done 30,000k on them - no issues, but that 30k has been pretty rough.
I personally would steer away from anything made in the USA, Mexico or Brazil. Just my bias after seeing a few failures.
