Hey mate,
checkout www.1010tires.com, they have a tire calculator there, I have used it to calculate myself out of the tyre replacement trouble, but don't forget the load index.
I've tried to have a look at your problem and it seems that not only the spare would be some 3.5 cm narrower than the other tyres but also some 4-4.5cm higher (overall diameter resulting in approximate difference of 2 cms in radius)
closest of the 205series on 16rims would be 205/85R16 but still some 7mm smaller which might make a huge difference in driveability.
I recommend get rid of the spare and buy a one that is the same size as the other wheels fitted to your vehicle.
KEEP SAFE!
Petr

BFG 30x9.5x15 are 771mm diameter.
Dunlop 205R16 are about 740mm

hmmm the lak of profile on the 205x16 and bfg 16 could make it difficult. Maybe i wont be slack and do the ltimate
test - pull the spare off and measure the od then jack the vehicle up and measure the od

Davoe,
The unloaded diameter is of limited use. Different tyres squash down to a different extent when under load. Measure the loaded rolling radius on the vehicle - I take a small spirit level, line up the bottom with the centre of the hub/wheel and measure the distance to the ground. Surprising how much tyres of the same size but different brands vary and I have never found the numbers to be the same as found on the charts.

Davoe,
I posted the diameters above. 30mm difference means the 205 is not much good as a spare.

I believe you Phil - she was told they are the same size but i had severe doubts. However have you got it round the right way that the 15 inch tyre is actually 30mm larger than the 16 inch? - just a crsory glance and neither looks to have a particulary high profile

verdict is in. The road gripper had approx 12mm of tread (brand spanker) and the bfg around 4mm (hmm thats gonna cost her some time this year) side by side their appeared to be around 1 inch difference but its hard to be exact. the circumferance of the BFG was 2310mm and the rg was 2350mm.
I suspect a 10.5 15 inch will be alot closer if the 9.5 are replaced plenty of options but In the. meantime I will let her know it is a limp
home to be fixed asap if the need arises.
BTW do you know if the 80 series 16/235x85 will fit straight on as
well as the 80 series splits? I think so (2004 hilux) if so there are a few more options if the need arises...................... (how quickly a divorce can happen)

in the time it took you to type this, and wait for 2903823904823089 wrong answers, you could have stood them side by side, and even probably changed them, done a tire rotation, and balanced the lot on both cars.

what part of "Couldnt be stuffed putting them side by side" didnt you understand?
eriosly though I have just dropped her off at work So I can clean it out from the Weekend s that is exactl what I Will do I told her last night it was dought ful no matter what she was told bt in typical chick fashion I think a visual demonstation is the only way I tink 30mm is too large a difference especially on a 4by where it may wll be further than 10k to the nearest tyre place (If I can talk her into swapping all the gear from my 80 and really testing out a TD Hilux)
