Thought i would let people know about my very low thoughts on Bridgestone All terraine tyres. I have a 2006 Toyot aHilux Xtra cab T/D 4x4. On buying it i decided to replace thecheese cutters it came with and visited my local Bridgestone outlet. He reccommended the A/T. Since owning these tyres (6 months) i have had four punctures and of these two destroyed the tyres. The first tyres that was destroyed was when the tyres were two weeks old and i crossed a creek in the
Braidwood area. i drove the vehicle thru a creek and on crossing the creek was unable to stop until i reached the top of a very slippery
hill. On reaching the top i stopped and found my tyre was flat. I returned it to the Tyre dealer and he said i drove it flat to long and it was un repairable. The second was while driving along the gulf road between
Lawn Hill anmd King fisher
Camp. I had just crossed a creek and pulled over 20 metres out of the creek to find a tyre deflating . I changed the tyre and took it to the tyre dealer in
Mataranka . he said i drove on it to long and it had a bubble. I drove on this tyre 20 mtres. The tyre was still deflating when i checked it.!!. These tyres (including the replacements) have now travelled 30000 km and are like driving on slicks. The ute is virtually un drivable in the wet.
I will not be buying Bridgestones again. !

having a bad run. What caused the tyres to deflate while crossing the creeks,
puncture, popped bead? What pressures do you run them at on/off road?

In 10 years of running Bridgestone AT 604s I have only ever had one
puncture either on or off road.
You can not blame the tyes for objects you run over. There are a lot of variables and not just the tyres - there is terrain, tyre pressure, style of driving etc and all of these will play a part when you get a flat.

Really, are you serious. He is driving on surfaces that the image makers want you to drive on. These tyres are meant to driven on!
Number two. You are comparing your apples with his oranges, so to speak, so your comparison is irrelevant.
Number Three. Josh has had these tyres for only 6 months and has four punctures already. I would be asking questions from my tyre dealer if I had this type of failure rate from a tyre that is known for its longevity.
Number Four. The rubbish that the dealer gave him was just bluffing the problem away at no cost. I would be demanding for the store manager, Bridgestone local rep, Bridgestone state manager, Bridgestone national manager.
Go for it Josh, demand whatever you want as I believe you have a bad batch.
Cheers.

Does sound like a bad batch - I would be asking questions at a high level also.
My wagon is fitted with 16inch Dueler AT D694's - they are about a third worn and no problems on and off road.
I watch the pressures like a hawk (almost paranoid !) and stick to the vehicle manufacturers door plate minimum plus 4psi rule.
cheers

my main winge is that after i get a
puncture the tyres are destroyed with in such a short time of driving on them flat. A tyre should not be able to be driven at low speed for more than 20 metres with ou tbeing destroyed

Jon,
Are you running split rims? What size are the tyres, and which Bridgestones are they?

I'm not a Bridgestone ambassador but...
We have used both 693 & 694 on a similar vehicle to you (Rodeo), both on the standard 16s and later 15s (31x105r15). With over 100,000km (acumulative) including about 25,000km of outback/offroad usage- have had NO probs. with the tyres.
Trips include Flinders area, most of the Beadell roads, Simpson and environs (eg Oodanadatta, Strzleki,
Birdsville tracks), weekenders thru
Lithgow, Sth Coast, Watagans -and even the
Braidwood area. etc etc. Most of the extended trips the vehicle was heavy loaded.
We drove to the conditions, and ' aired down' when & if the need arose.
I gather you won't be using Bridgstones again- but would be interested in your impending choice!!

Over a couple of years, we had 3 Bridgestone AT's destroy themselves and one more with a serious bulge.
Size = 750/16, pressures were the manufacturer's recommended for our vehicle. 95% of the driving was on the black stuff on those tyres.
All tyres were around half worn when they went. The Bridgestone dealer did not want to know and got real bleep off at me when I left the last tyre there with him as he had to pay to dispose of it.
Not happy and never using Bridgestones again.

Hi Jon. I had Bridgestone when I got my Rodeo. wreaked 2 at 1000km, Stakes
but I do not blame the tyres for that.I have now done 60000km and still got tread
left but would not rely on them for my next trip, July. Was going to get another set of
Bridgestone but have now decided on Wranglers (don't know why ).
I still feel that I should stick with Bridgeston.

I take it they weren't LT tyres in the 694? May have made a difference - I would only use LTs in outback offroading. Looked at the 694 for the Jackaroo but they did not make one in an LT do did not get - went for Cooper ATRs in a LT. Very happy so far after 12000 kms. No punctures, minor chipping from
rock work, VG on sand.
Sorry to hear about your misfortune, Ill definitely be staying away from them in future too after hearing that.

Just as a
point of interest on the side wall where were they made,I'm very interested to know
I have had 3 sets of BF Goodrige now been on about every road condition you could throw at them and I never have any problems, one tactic is always let them down a bit for stoney roads and try to avoid the larger rocks ,Now if your going into Country Willem does for his personal punishment then a few staked tyres is exprcted.

I had similar problems with D694's and only got 30K out of them. Thought it was the weight of the cruiser. More than happy with the BFG muds I replaced them with.

So far I've done 35,000k's on my D694's and I think they're very good. No punctures and much less than half worn, but they must be tubeless and LT's.
A recent Simpson crossing resulted in two vehicles with Coopers having punctures, but no problems with the D694's.

My Cruiser came with new 693's on it. I was rude about them at the start but they have done surprisingly
well IMHO. Had few flats but considering what they've done I'm quite impressed.
To tell you the truth they seem to have done as
well as the Coopers I used previously.
