Hi all
My Brother is Doing a Disc Brake conversion on his 40 series.

He has got The front diff from a 60 series which he will swap over the Swivel Hub Assembly, Callipers, Discs, Ect

But we would like some advice from any one who has done a conversion like this before

Does he need a new Booster and master ?

Does any modifications need to be made to the rear brakes as it has two wheel cylinders not one like the 60 series ?

What other problems may we encounter while doing this conversion ?

Thanks
Luke

I did the same job to a 45 series troopy years ago using Hilux front bits, only difference was non vented and vented discs.
I had to change the master cylinder to a 60 series one, booster was ok, the rear proportioning valve needed some tweaking from memory.
I didn't have to do anything to the rear brakes from memory, but can't remember whether it had one or two wheel cylinders either ;-))
If it doesn't work fit the 60 series rear brakes.

They always worked very well, the main reason I did the conversion was so that I had brakes after river and creek crossings as the drums took forever to dry out. Also less hassle not having to clean mud out of the drums.

Luke,

I8HMUD forum is pretty good for this technical stuff - forum.ih8mud.com/ - and they have a special forum dedicated to each series.
