I am in the process of planning our next trip and go via Poeppel Corner travelling from Adelaide to Birdsville, Innaminka, Broken Hill etc.....
Currently we have a tow package of a Prado and a Pioneer off road c/t and were wondering if travelling North on the Warburton Line , from Warburton Crossing to Poeppel and then East on the QAA line to Birdsville is ok with a trailer......??

Can any one give who has towed a trailer over this section advise on the road/sand conditions??

thanks

We have done the trip from Mt Dare to Birdsville with our trailer so I can vouch for the poeples Corner to Birdville section. Consider the time of year, ever changing road conditions, past experience and possible company. Hopefully you'll have done some sand driving before and know the bits about tyre pressure and recovery gear.

Kind regards

Hi Buck,

We did our trip in late September 2005. The flies were almost unbelievable and it was certainly a little warm. We'd been on the road for almost 3 months and were pretty polished at this time. I think April is early in the travel season and not sure other than the road could be very powdery. Here's something to wet the appetite,

Kind regards

K1 Line from Warburton Crossing to Poeppels is an easy run.

QAA Line depends on when you are going - we did it twice last year - In early June it was very soft and difficult; in August after some rain, it was a breeze. But we don't take a trailer.

Hey Buck

Make sure its dry !

Make sure it is dry and you should not have too many problems ,,
Not done the Warburton line in, but have been told that you do not want any rain about.... to get dragged out is big $$$$ if you get stuck, especially if its closed and you go in against the signage,,

We went to Birdsville, this year from Innaminka,( as part of our trip ) along Walkers Crossing, and I towed our camper trailer ( Trak Shak ) and did it easy.. Again ther are a couple of low patches you could get caught in, but generally its easy if its dry,,

Cheers Mate
Bucky
