I heard a tale from a lady involved in the disability sector - you could go to seminars and hear people talk with so many acronyms and 'industry specific jargon', while everyone in the audience thinks 'gee i must be dumb, everyone else knows what he is talking about'.
One group (in USA) decided to play 'wacky-words bingo'. They all had their lists of the anticipated jargon, and ticked them off - soon someone called bingo and everyone left - he'd used too many wacky words.

Hi Motherhen,
It's not only the disability sector. Acronyms are becoming a disability to communicate.
Everything has one.
I can so understand playing buzz word bingo in an american company they love them.
Like I said above I once asked for the English language version of an email. It had so many acronyms and buzz words it was unreadable.
In my last job I got to see quite a few applications for employment from younger people.
Some, not all where full of acronyms and SMS abbreviations, they are the ones that got binned in the first round.

I heard that Telstra has a book of these things (Abbreviations and acronyms) so that staff can understand what everyone else in Telstra and the telecommunications industry is talking about.
