Hi Folks,

We are planning a trip around the 6 Foot Track / Yerranderie areas in the next week or so, and were wondering what tracks and camping areas are still open and accessible.

Our rough plan is to head down to the Cox's river on the 6 Foot Track, then back up, through Jenolan Caves, and around to Yerranderie, taking in Kanangra Walls, Dingo Dell and Limeburners before heading out through Mitagong. We'll roughly follow the Boiling Billy directions.

We'll probably camp at the Cox's, then Yerranderie.

So we are really just looking for some general info, places to see that aren't on the map, and anything else you can think of. We'll be taking it pretty slowly, and don't mind a diversion or two to interesting places.

Cheers,

Chris

Yup...proposed route looks fine. Did the same trip late November (in opposite direction). Take a Bushies Saw (or small chainsaw)....might be some branches across piste. Say hi to Martyn at Yerranderie.

I went on an excursion to Yerranderrie with the Mining Museum many years ago . We fossicked through a quartz crystal mine where they mined crystals for radios . That was interesting BUT , I cannot give you directions - it was too long ago .

Hi, I was there weekend before last, Yerranderie is a fantastic place to visit. Dingo Dell still open, with camping sites, but private track in and land either side of the flats has been fenced off and a new access road a little more to the west gets you in and out to the south. Still steep and lots of fun to drive. No flowing water at Dingo and not much at Kowmung crossing. Martyn was on leave but a very helpful care taker looked after us and we stayed in the Post house and had the place to ourselves. We came in from Wonbeyan Caves and went out at 5kms from Kannangarra Walls. We took a visiting cousin from England (a break from being beaten up over the cricket) and saw lots of wildlife.
HAVE FUN.

Hi All,

I represent the Owner of Dingo Dell, discussed in this forum. For the information of your subscribers the fire trails south of Dingo Dell ARE NOT PUBLIC ROADS, nor is there any public right of way along these fire trails where they cross the property. Both Banshee Hill and the Kowmung River Fire trails can be both gated and permanently locked.

The owners are trying hard not to lock the Kowmung River Fire trail, but the lack of support from our neighbours (like the NP&WS), the Hoons discussed in this thread and the fact that many drivers simply ignore the No Trespassing signs make it more likely that these roads will be shut than not. Your can help prevent this by: -
1) Respecting the Private property. How would they like their backyard to be treated?
2) Reporting any hoons and vandals to the police or myself.
3) Not camping on or damaging the private property or the adjoining national park.
4) Keeping to the formed track of the Kowmung River Fire Trail

Nigel
