We are a family of 4 and we need a caravan with a queen bed and internal height measurement to fit a 2m tall dad. We have been looking for about two months and besides the Jayco Expanda and a Coromal Poptop, both with not enough storage for us , we haven't found much. We want to spent about 8 months travelling around Oz and as we are first time caravanners we've been looking at second hand vans. The kids will be doing distance education so we need a bit of space. We've thought a double axle, 17ft+, with a/c in the roof, poptop?(if that is possible with a/c in the roof), we are still undecide about the shower and loo, queen bed plus bunks or a double bed. I've spoken to every around Oz traveller I can find and only one has said they know someone who had a van especially made for a tall person but when we rang they'd sold it already. So I thought I'd ask, "does anyone have or know of someone who does have a van that was built for a tall person that they want to sell?" I know we could get one made especially, but as novices I think this would be a bad idea. I'd appreciate any feedback. We plan to leave late March/early April so time is running out.
Thanks for your help

Think you may have left it too late to build it or order it Maree. I told someone the other day to look at a rig like ours but then you want second hand. I don't come close to the roof at 6'4" and Mr Al reckoned it was high at bigger than me. No, I don't work for them, not own any of their shares, just wish I did. You may be able to buy a demo one as new takes months.........

You may have to go the Campertrailer route. Most are made on a 7' x 4' frame and come with queensize matress. I am 6'2" and my feet don't even reach the end of my matress.

I know it's not a caravan but they are just as good - there are many styles around so have a look and you might find something you like and they don't take that long to set up.

Maree,
You don't say what you're towing with but, this in the trader sounds perfect to me. I believe it's price has been reduced by around $7k.

It's 4 birth, shower/toilet/aircon adn raised roof although maybe even with the 3000mm raised roof, not high enough as it states 6'5" headroom?

You would need to be towing with a post 10/96 cruiser or GU to be able to tow this though.

Matt
