I have a heard rumours from 2 unrelated sources, that Toyota are planning to release a 4 door troop carrier with their new V8 TD.
Much google searching has failed to reveal much real info. Does any one have any knowledge of planned troopie realses?
I am interested in the vehicle as a possible family touring 4by – should be able to handle 3 kids( the will grow into over 6’ ers) plus gear.
Thnks in advance,
Paul.

I was at toyota yesterday ordering a new Prado ;-).

The dealer told me all troopies and utes were gone from their local stock and they are now waiting for supply of the new 78/9 series vehicles. Actually they tried to sell me one instead of the prado.

There will be a ute, a troopy and another car which is 4 door but, according to salesman, will be very much like the old 60 series. So not actually the 4 door troopy. It is to be marketed as a bush vehicle without all the luxury gizmos of the 100 series. It will have the 4.5 (yes I'd heard 4.4 until yesterday) V8 single turbo diesel. It should be available in an RV spec.

Delivery in March.

Cheers Tez

Agree re the looks of the 40, and it does not look like it would be a patch on a troopie for a family tourer.
Currently in Germany und so far, nein Toyota dealerships around town.

Rather than talking in riddles it may have been a little more constructive to say something like.... "Being a wharfie at the car terminal that happens to unload new Toyota of the boat"

Cheers

Where do I sign. Probably have to remortgage the bunker for it, but I've spent a fortune trying to make my own versions of these up in the past with varying degrees of success.

It sounds perfect. Only time will tell.

A 4-door Troopie would be perfection; I don't understand why it has never been done by Toyota. I have seen ads for a 3rd door conversion though.

SACruiser,
Thanks for your input.
Do you have any knowledge on timing of release?

I don't know much about toyo series numbers but am aware of a 78/79 series. It seems to me that their series numbers increase with time so I am about confused with the designation 76, suggests an older model? I think not.

Paul.

Still no pictures or detail from a new and reliable source.

TWO AUSTRALIAN MOTOR SHOW FIRSTS FOR BRISBANE

Toyota will stage two Australian motor show firsts when it unveils the new Tarago V6 and LandCruiser 70 Series at the Brisbane Motor Show on 2 February.

Both vehicles feature advanced new engines - the first six-cylinder engine ever offered in a Tarago and, for the 70 Series, Toyota's first V8 turbo-diesel engine.

The Tarago V6 features an advanced technology 3.5-litre engine that develops more than 200kW - the most power for a vehicle in its segment.

It also has better fuel economy than any other petrol six-cylinder people mover on the market.

The Tarago V6 will supplement the current four-cylinder range.

It is designed to broaden Tarago's appeal to families and a range of new business customers.

The new Tarago V6 range will be launched publicly in February 2007.

The Brisbane Motor Show will also see the Australian debut of the re-styled and updated LandCruiser 70 Series cab-chassis.

The new turbo-diesel V8 engine produces outstanding horsepower combined with a strong, flat torque curve.

The new engine complies with stringent Euro IV tailpipe emission standards introduced for diesel engines from 1 January.

The V8 turbo-diesel replaces the previous 4.2-litre turbo and non-turbo-diesel six-cylinder engines.

To accommodate the larger engine, the 70 Series has been restyled.

Specification has been upgraded across the range.

The new 70 Series range will be launched to the public around the end of the first quarter.

"The reveal of the new LandCruiser workhorse and Tarago V6 is the beginning of a busy year of new model launches for Toyota Australia," said Alan Porich, executive director, sales and marketing.

"The program means that, by December, Toyota Australia's entire range will have been replaced by all-new or heavily revised models in the space of less than three years.

"The new models will help us retain our market leadership in Queensland and put Toyota on course to once again be the number one brand in Australia in 2007."

Bring out the 2007 Tundra to Australia, i think it looks real tough and modern. I dont think the Landcruiser ute looks as tough or as nice as the Tundra
