Hi folks,
We are currently looking at another treck, but this time we are looking at driving from
Bathurst, along the
Bridle Track, then on to
Wellington.
Does anyone know if there is a way through from, say, the Sailors
Bluff campsite, or do we have to come out through
Mudgee?
Cheers,
Chris

chumpion,
yes there is a way through.......I carn't tell you the names of the track though. Last
Easter on my way back to
Adelaide from
Taree I decided to go walkabout on the way.......I have a habit of doing this. Anyways I went down through
Mudgee I think, and then kept heading South and eventually ended up on a dirt track which then eventually ended up at
Hill End. I can
check my maps this evening and let you know if you like. Basically of I was standing looking at the takeaway in the main street of
Hill End the road back towards
Bathurst etc is off to the right. Head back up that was and there is a
fork in the road, if you go to the right you go back to
Bathurst, if you veer left you are heading up towards
Mudgee and
Wellington. I also noticed other tracks along the way that were clearly marked 4WD but opted not to explore these as
Adelaide was still a long way away.

Cheers - I might pop out to the map
shop and have a bit of a gander.
Nice cruiser, by the way - we've pretty much the same thing, just with the 1HZ.
Cheers,
Chris

dixons long point road (tl after you leave
hill end heading nth) then via euchareena to
wellington, or you can pick up the twelve mile road by skirting around the east side of
lake burrendong, it comes out just north of the
bridge before
wellington.

1. Get to
Hill End.
Bridle track is rough as. 2wd access just slow
2. Get into the
Royal Hotel and sink a few
3. Go over to the cafe and have a damn good coffee. Ask for the owner's ( guy with tats ) grandfather and ask for directions.
4. Get some dinner at the Royal
5. Go to the
Village campground for the night.
6. walk around the town reading the info boards, amazing place!
7. Move out in the morning

All good, you can also take the Dixons Long Point track, then turn left to Ophir & on to
Bathurst for a change!
My Dad lives in
Wellington, nice little town. 8 )>
