Get a load of this, straight from Wikipedia. I'm keeping my modded GQ- hopefully it will skyrocket in value if this is true!
"Since the the Y61 (GU) Patrol design is now almost twenty years old, and its design differences from the Y60 are only relatively minor, Nissan is planning its replacement. That replacement is scheduled to appear sometime between late 2006 and early 2007. Observers say it is unlikely that the next Patrol will be built in Japan, and some speculate that the next version of the Nissan Patrol will have external design features similar to those of the 2006 Nissan Terranaut concept car, seen at the Geneva Motor Show. As yet there is no definitive information on which platform it will use, but rumors suggest that it could be Nissan's F platform. It is likely Nissan will choose that platform, given their pattern of attempting to reduce manufacturing costs across their range of vehicles.
In Australia, dealer principles were to advise in November 2006 that the GU will undergo one last facelift. This would be the GU Series V. A new Patrol would not be available until 2009 at earliest - Nissan has not yet committed to the upgrade - the traditional markets of Australia, Middle East and Africa potentially don't have enough volume to create a separate chassis that is different from either the Titan or Navara/Pathfinder. In addition, increasing fuel prices have lead to an exodus in Australia from large 4wd wagons."

Wow! what good news if true , I hope Patrol stays the same way for next twenty years while lesser cars crumble by the wayside.

Leave it externally as is but give it a new CRD 4.2 engine at least.

My opinion? An onroad shi t heap with independent
suspension and a good common rail diesel, albeit small capacity?? All speculation!

This new model wouldnt be the 4.8L patrol would it? I saw 2 patrols walking
home, looked really new, less rounded than the gu's before. At least i think... i was very very hung over :P.

the last of the patrol cab chassis 4.2 where delivered to aus in dec I believe. The new cab chassis due late feb - mar may be a new common rail i/c turbo 3.0lt, similar, but larger, to new 2.5lt navara. More speculation !!

My GQ has 240 000 on the clock and is only half way through it's life span. This speculation won't affect me as i will keep it until it dies.

My GQ has 365 000 on it and I am hoping to take it through to 500 000 before replacing the little 3.0 l petrol rb30. I'll keep the body though.
It's still running sweetly and I wouldn't trade it for quids (
well I could be tempted with an oil burner but...) What's more, easy to source parts (not that I need them) and cheap motoring. And I couldn't care less if it got scratched or dinged.
My main car though got assaulted in the car parks right from day 1 and looks a bit scruffier than the GQ.
