I'm just about to buy a 99 Prado; spoke to my mechanic.
Apparently there are no problems at all; excellent vehicles.
Good luck

I have just bought a 2004 3L TD with 82K on it and am absolutely rapped in it. Have done my research on possible problems and found the most interesting source of info was this site www.lonards-automotives.com.au/prado.html

I have since applied for membership of the 120 Series 'Cruiser Owners On Line at this site autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/120scool/

Hope this helps.

The Prado I"m getting has 80k on it and i'm getting it for less than $20k, so, I think it is a good buy.

Hi Guys,
I have 2002 3 lt TD which has just had its 155k service. The vehicle has been absolutely excellent for both reliability and repair costs. Its only warranty claims were for original shockies replaced after stone damage off road. Since then the only significant repair that I can recall was a clutch throw out bearing replaced at 130k.
If you have a dual battery set up, you should watch for cracking in the radiator support panel.

It is well worth upgrading suspension particularly if you have bullbar, winch, dual battery set up.

Goodluck

Kevin

Hi Smally,

Just sold my 2003 TD prado and bought another, It had done 143000km when I sold it. Have towed a camper trailer from Perth to Kununurra, Gibb River Road, and around the NW and couldn't be happier (Hence buying another) The new owner is also wrapped.

Regards
Steve
