Hi Folks,
Searched the web and the archives and was surprised to not locate a single article on a homemade fridge slide.
All the fridge slides I have seen advertised start from $250 and go up.
I need to mount a TC-32 litre waeco and a CF-40 litre waeco in a frame at the back of my trailer. The fridges will be mounted side by side and in an east/west configuration within the trailer so that when they slide out of the frame they move across the trailer not toward the towball or tailgate.
I don't really want to spend $500-600 to achieve this. The frame that the fridges will sit in will be made from galvanised steel, probably 20x20mm square tube (RHS ?).
Has anybody built their own slides or know where I can get plans/ideas ?
I am happy to weld a base to strap the fridge to but I don't know where to obtain slides with sufficient strength for offroad work to connect the base to the frame.
Cheers ... Taz

My home made slide for the Waeco 50 is still going
well.
Bought some study chinese drawer slides from a discount place - $18 the pair !
Bought a piece of ally plate and folded it into a tray at work (sheetmetal folding).
All downhill from there......
Screw the slides to my marine ply false floor, via the use of a bit of ally right angle
Pop rivet the tray to the slides.
Put some nylon support-runners underneath to take the weight when mobile.
Make a spring loaded catch from some ss rod.
Might have been about $65 all up.
I'm not into metalworking - anyone who is would make it stronger than
mine but so far, I'm happy.

we built ours for our waeco cf50....easy as...
used a bit of thick ply...painted black ....eventually carpeted it.....put it on rollers that are nailed/bolted into our false floor/draw system that we did ourselves too, then for straps to hold her in place nathan got helicopter
seat belts, cut them to length that was needed and they go through the handles and onto a metal loop that he put on the base too..... a
and so that the slide doesnt slide out when the back is open and on a lean there is a push pin that goes into a hole that we drilled into the false floor...
total cost..... $20
