We are always at pains to advise travellers to take extreme care when travelling in Central Australia or other areas of the Outback in summer.

This morning, including a wind chill factor, it is 10 degrees here at Warraweena in the Flinders Ranges. Cold with wispy clouds. Everything is wet. Looks like the rain has gone for the moment though.

I wonder what has happened to that bloke who was driving up to the Diamantina Lakes this week. Probably floating down Cooper Creek at the moment....lol

Cheers

Willem , both you and I know that there's plenty of summer left.
We had the air con on in the bedroom so that we could sleep, the night before last.

My air cond just blows a warm damp breeze.
Ive put a towel in front of the computer keyboard to soak up the sweat
and Im going to throw the salt grinder to the shiithouse because all that comes out is a paste.
Its going to get worse yet too.
Cheers

Gday Willem,
Must be nice at Warraweena today after all that rain. Do you get those frogs come out from under the river beds? We were at Glass Gorge 3 years ago when when a deluge hit us, and we watched the creeks flow for a day - then they were dry the next morning.

I wondered about that guy too. He was the tour operator who wanted info on Walkers Crossing, which was closed anyway because of sand drifts. Now its closed because of mud! He never replied back after posting the question.

G'day Phil

Its turning out to be a nice day. No wind and cool.

I have to accompany some scientists with the GQ while they drive their HilUx with street tyres up a creekbed to check some Wallaby Traps. Its going to be fun methinks.........

Willie,
from another thread (41450):

" Personal contact with a station along the L Eyre South region this morning is that the wind is already drying things out, and that dust is starting to blow after the 44mm recorded. "

Hi Willem et al,

Just got home from Chrissy Hols, arrived Alice on Wed, to good->heavy rainfalls awoke on Thurs to Todd doing a banker and started to reconsider our plans to head out on Friday....

Rain dropped off Thurs and our nurse got thru on Thurs night so headed out to home on Fri.

West Macdonnels were damp but not very wet the first 120k's of the Mereenie Loop was raising dust!

Seems the Alice and Eastern side got all the good stuff. Locally the river did run albeit briefly which is of interest as it is fed from the Vally that runs to Boggy Hole.

Hawker was hammered!

Regards Slammin.
