We are planning on going
camping in
Albany this month...our first time there since heading West a year ago...what's the weather like and is the wind acceptable?
We had friends that went a few hours north and had too come home it was so windy

Albany can be cold, can be windy, can sometimes be hot tho not for very long. I wouldn't be
camping by
the beach in an exposed spot. Try finding a spot, caravan
park, that has lot's of trees around it in case it gets windy.
Fantastic
views and scenery, great rocks and beaches.
Water is chilly, harbour very pretty, certainly a place to visit.
It's a south coastal town, so yes, it can be windy. How much that bothers you is a matter of timing with the weather and your patience.

Haven't been there for many years but tucking into a homemade beef and Guiness pie the Earl of Spencer pub beside the log fire watching a blustery storm roll in over a few pints was one of the most pleasurable afternoons I can remember.

Albany can be windy, but so is much of our south coast, particularly in the afternoons. Nothing so severe as to stop you enjoying a summer holiday there. It is one of the coolest areas in the state, hence a very popular holiday spot in summer, particularly during the school holidays.

Hi Rob,
if you do go to a site be sure to go to Rose Gardens at
Emu Point , without doubt the best spot we've been to, tell them you've got a dog and you'll get right on
the beach, beauty,
Dave

The best time to go to
Albany is the mid 1970's before all the engineering gurus started mucking about with
Emu Point and
York Street was alive all night.
But if your vehicle hasn't got temporal drive - it is still a good place to go to. When you say "friends that went a few hours north" where exactly was that?
Enjoy your stay.
Jeff

i suspect most beach side
places south of
Perth were far better in the 70's...can't do much about it now...friends went to Port Nelson/Dongarna (?)...

That would be
Port Denison-
Dongara. Nice spot but that area has a reputation (Though I've never experienced it myself) for wind - especially between
Dongara and
Geraldton. Even the trees are laying down. (Not kidding)

I live in
Albany Robjo. I'm looking out the window at the moment and there is a light breeze. If you are coming down from
Perth then you would probably be looking for a jumper in the evenings. We just come back from 3 days
camping on a beach near Bremmer Bay. Friday was a bit windy. Saturday and Sunday was a light breeze, which is what it's like this time of year. The weather changes from day to day. Middleton beach caravan
park is a nice
park. Its right on
the beach but is quite sheltered and
the beach is great for kids. Enjoy yourself

Robjo,
we are planning to go out to
West Cape Howe for a bit of a day trip probably next Sunday if you and the family are still in
Albany and interested in coming along. It's nothing to extreme, just a fun 4wd day out.
