Hi,
I previously drove the
Bloomfield Track back in 1999 and 2001 in a Pajero, but this time I intend doing the trip in our x-trail. I have modified it for the trip, including fitment of larger BFG all terrain tyres and a 40mm spring lift. I have also had a canvas
water blind made up for the
water crossings. I can't find any updated info on the track and more importantly, the
creek crossings. I recall several being tidal. We are heading up in July, so any information that you have is appreciated.
I have read the numerous other similar threads, but they are a little outdated.
Thanks.

We also went in 1999 - the
creek crossings were very shallow at the time (September) and our daughter who we were visiting was disappointed to find the tide out and no
water on the crossing at all. She had been up previously on a motor bike, and found the crossings deeper and tidal flow across the river, after waiting for low tide.
Hopefully someone living nearby will have a better idea about what it might be like in July.

Pajboy,
I drove the
Bloomfield track 2 weeks ago and it was very good with only 2
creek crossings to speak of. A
water blind was not needed as the wet season has not yet started. The Bloomfield was not even over the causeway and the track was quite dusty.
To try and tell you what the track will be like in July is impossible. As you would know the big wet is very unpredictable and in July this year it was still raining so i personally would not have done the track then, but others would. If i was going to do the track in an X Trail i would be making sure the conditions were 100% right and there was no rain at all around. Some of those hills get very slippery in the wet and although its a nice drive its not worth wrecking a vehicle over.
The road gets fairly knocked around in the wet and immediately afterwards so if possible i would be have somewhere else to go as a backup. In saying that, if we get a below average season you may be OK. Once again it all depends on mother nature.
Cheers
Dave

Hi Guys,
The wet season started up here today. Forecast is for moderate to heavy rain over the next two days.
Bloomfield track is often closed during our wet season.
Cheers
Kevin
