Hello to you one and all,
You know how at times we sit back and read about things that happen in the paper or on the threads of the
forum and we say to ourselves, yep I can relate to that or I wouldn't mind having a go at that or even I've got most of the gear just need a couple of extra little things and Bobs your uncle.
Well in my case i thought I've got the Laptop and the Gps and i can NAVIGATE my way around a computor (but I'm not an IT expert by any means) all i need is a bit of extra software and I'll be up and away going from waypoint to waypoint like a true explorer, WRONG.
I bought Oziexplorer, Natmap raster Premium and cables etc. for the Garmin 72 and have tried all weekend to get one lot to talk to the other with no success, has anyone else bought the above software and had problems understanding how to get it to work.
If theres anyone out there who could maybe give me a few tips just to get started it would be most appreciated.
Cheers with beers

Franga,
Ozi is a brilliant software package, but there are a few traps. Just where are you having trouble - can you get OE to display a map? If not, have you installed (copied) the maps (especially the .MAP file/s) into Ozi's MAP folder. (Alternatively, told OE where to find them.)
If you can display a map, are you having trouble getting OE to talk to your gps? If you can narrow the problem down a bit, we can help you here.
Have you made full use of the HELP section of OE? It's very comprehensive.
Also,
check out the OE website www.oziexplorer.com/
There's also a lively
forum on Yahoo: tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/OziUsers-L/

Hi
John & Val,
Thanks for the Reply, I've got to try and get OE to find the maps first, I copied all the maps and the Raster Browser onto the computer but when i go to load a map theres no display of the maps file in the directory that comes up.
If I can get this part working I'll then have a go at the GPS part of it. If i get stuck can I email you through member contact.

Franga ,
I am in exactly the same position at the moment . I went to the OziExplorer site and downloaded the file it said to in their HELP section .
Then I ren the EXE file they said to run in Natmap.
Then I tried again to load a map from DVD1 or DVD2 and I got the following message :
Cannot find the image file for MAP D:\OziExplorer\Maps\Natmap Rastor Premium 2005\DVD1\Natmap Million Mosaic.map
The Image FileRecorded for this map is D:\Rastor Premium\1M-Mosaic\NATMAP-DVD1\1m.ecw
Browse disc for new location of image file
Browse Abort Re-try
Good bloody luck ,
Willie .

Franga & Willie
Thanks for the encouragement LOL. I've been sitting here with my chrissy present (a Magellan eXplorist XL) wondering how I can get all fancy and put moving maps on it and reading through the
shop I thought this is the go but not being an I T whiz sounds like I am in for some form of frustration. I think if you don't mind we will have to keep in touch.
Time for another beer (I think I'm going to need a few)
Cheers Rossco
