Hi all, Mate wants to know if 13L per 100 on freeway cycle, 15L per 100 city cycle, and 17/18L per 100 towing van sound ok. These figures are for a 3.4L Toyota prado automatic 99 model. They sound pretty good to me but he thinks is a bit thirsty for the around town figures but told him I would ask the professionals that own them on here. regards Steve M

Stephen,
I've got an 2003 auto with 4.0 litre motor. The computer tells me the average round town is 14.0 l/100km. So your numbers are about right.
Drops to the low 13's on a trip and maybe high 12's if your very careful and go on very looonnnggg drives.
The towing sounds right as
well. Although I've only just got my
Kimberley Karavan and haven't done any great distance. It's about 2000kg loaded so I'm expecting the types of numbers you've quoted.
Cheers
Garth

I got a petrol 3.4L RV6, I get bout those figures (don't tow so can't say). But you can get those numbers down by driving lightly and not accelerating. If on the highway if you stay below 100km/hr you can get down to 11L/100km if it's a manual. Round town varies from 12 - 15L/100km for me.

Hi,
I have a 1998 3.5 Petrol Jackaroo and just got back from a trip...
My fuel consumption was:
Around 13 ltrs per 100 for a little round country town and highway usage.
Around 17-18 ltrs per 100 when towing a off road Hawk Jayco fully loaded with also roof top bag.
Craig.

I own a 98 3.4L Prado Grande auto. I also get 13L/100km on the highway sitting on 100, general touring with occasional low range and light load around 15-16L/100km. I don't really live in the city so can't say and I haven't towed my camper behind this one yet. I also have BFG A/T tyres and 2 inch lift so normal tyres and height should do marginally better. I do try to drive for economy too.
Mark.

Got a 3.4lt 2000 Prado, the freeway & city sounds right (on petrol), but towing
mine is worse mileage then 17/18. Get more like 20 on petrol, and 22 or so on gas.

Hi Stephen,
I have 3.4 litre 99 Prado. Those figures are pretty much on the mark. I am just starting to tow a 1 tonne trailer but have only done 1 short trip with it so I didn't conduct any calculations - she was sucking the juice a fair bit though especially going up the Clyde.
Cheers ... Taz
