Gidday
Just got a GME Tx3200. I will install it in the spare space in the dash, under the stereo. Am in the process of mounting the Mobile One (Dick Smith) RF470 antenna on my GU 04 DX Patrol. I think its best on the Steel Bull Bar, on the LHS mounting bracket. My question is what is the best route from the bull bar to get the coax cable into the cabin and the best spot in the firewall to come thru.
Thanks in advance

Quite difficult on the drivers side.
On the passenger side, low on the firewall is a large rubber sock which feeds cables thru the firewall. Either feed some coathanger wire thru its length to drag the coax thru, or punch a hole thru it and bring the cable thru that.
Just feed the cable from the bull bar along the inside of the fender and use cable ties to hold it to the existing cable run.
Just make sure you use 50 ohm cable (usually RG58) and not 75 ohm tv cable if you have to buy that separately.
Cheers,
Gerry

$300 for the uhf, and $80 (abt) for the antenna

Lambo,
Agree with the suggestion about the large rubber sock. It is difficult to get the cable through so I inserted the plastic body of a bic biro first to act as a channel for the cable. Once the cable is through and you can grab it, slide the biro body off the cable.

Jon, Nice trick with the biro!
BTW, Lambo, if you're new to this, don't forget to leave spare cable at each end, esp the antenna end. You may have to re-terminate at some stage of the cable's life and you'll curse if it's too short.
