My 1985 diesel cruiser with aftermarket turbo gets about 12.5 litres per 100km, cruising using 5th gear at about 100kmh and carrying 4 people and gear. If I have the roofrack on or I am towing (when I don't use 5th) it drops to about 15lper 100km

My HJ60 used to get 8.5 l/100K with no roofrack no towing. Worst was towing a trailer with a rack and a sidewind, 4wd in, 6.6Km/L (sorry for the measurement change, it was a long time ago but I remember those figures well).

My 1984 5sp HJ60 gets around 12l/100k city cycle and about the same when fully loaded (around 2.6 tonne) on highway cycle. The engine is original and has done around 450,000ks. The worst I got was around 19l/100 km on a fully laden vehicle climbing the 1000 or so sand dunes crossing the simpson desert!

I hear economy for petrol 60's are attrocious - around 17-18l/100ks but have no evidence to back it up.

cheers
