Hi All
Just got back from 3 weeks skiing in Japan. What a great country, friendly helpfull people, amazing service, incredible snow.
Lots of interesting vehicles and variations that you dont see here. Surprisingly saw a few hummers as
well.
In Niseko where I did most of my skiing they run a fleet of mini buses for a free shuttle service around town, every one of them had a engle fridge mounted in it, dont know what it was for as the temperature was rarely above -10C but there they were. Had to have a little chuckle to myself aobut how this would fuel the constant engel v waeco debate.
Cheers

How was the set-up there? Could you ski virtually from your accomodation? Or did you have to shuttle from the town to the ski fields?

We were in Niseko for a week and then Furano for a week. We stayed in a Pension in both
places. In Niseko these tend to be a bit further from the snow than the Hotels however we were only a 5 minute walk from the lifts and very close to the bars and restaraunts. The Pension in Furano was about 10 mins walk but there was so much snow were able to ski
home down the road ( traffic lights and all)
Its a great place
Cheers

Hi Groove,
Sounds like you had a great time there. Pretty wacky about the fridges in the minivans.
I'm about to head off there next week. One question - a bit off topic for this
forum, but did you take ski's from Oz, or hire over there (and if so from which
shop).
Cheers.

Hi Skiman
I took my own skis because they are quite new pretty wide and I like them. However others in our party did hire them there and the gear was very good. We stayed in Niseko and they hired from Inski, these guys let you change skis whenever you like so they got to try a range of skies, Rossingol B2 etc. I think there is a bit too much hype about skiing really wide skis in powder. We had some very deep powder and I had no probs.
You will love it
Cheers

Thanks for the info Groove. As it turns out I'll also be hiring over there - looking forward to it. Cheers, Skiman.

Dont actually remember the colour I think they were
grey, however the buses were Toyotas. Its good to see Australia can export more than just minerals.
Cheers
