This may have been covered before but here goes, on a 10in dexter electric brake ( brand not important I don't think ) when its been adjusted up till the shoes start binding, I back it off about 2 or 3 "clicks" ( how do you determine a "click" ) until the hub is running free.
But on past posts it has been stated that you go back 8 "clicks" ??? Wouldn't this be too much and why 8 ? Why not 3 or 4 or 5 ??

With my 10" ALKO brakes, they recommend about 13 clicks... I thinks its all to do with the imprecise nature of the point at which the shoes start to bind - I find that the range of binding from very light to 'can't turn the wheel' is probably about 20 clicks. So......... I take it up to a 'firm' bind, then go back about 15 clicks. From there, I just
check the hubs to see if they are cool while mobile. Pretty much a personal arrangement, for my hardware - would differ a bit for others.
My thoughts are that they need to be just free enough to avoid braking with fluctuations in the manual brake part of the hitch setup (and to stay cool while mobile) - yet close enough to brake early when you need them.

I have the manual part of the hitch locked off and only let the electric part of the brakes work !!
There seems to be a lot of difference between "firm" bind and "free" between brands as the 3 "clicks" on
mine seems to work ok and haven't noticed any heat in the hubs ( except of course if the brakes had been used a fair bit before stopping to
check )
