If the Grenade is Nissans only diesel option, then the Patrol diesel will disappear in a few yrs. No doubt.
Toyota must be beating off furiously...
interesting on the exploders
"
Melbourne dealer is advertising fully-equipped brand new V6
Explorers at under $40,000 driveaway -- around $18,000 off normal list price. A bargain in anyone's language..." $18k is a good saving in anyones book.. hate to be tryign to sell one that you bought 12 mths ago though.. LMAO

"V6
Explorers for $40,000, a bargain in anyone's language".
It's only a bargain if the vehicle is a good package overall and that is debatable according to the owners I have spoken to, without being specific none of them I have spoken to would buy an Explorer again.

Good point Truckster, we would never see $20k off a Patrol or Cruiser, so why are we seeing it off an Explorer..??
Answer: Cos they can't get rid of the bleep ers quick enough..!

When I bought(leased) my Triton, I walked into Mitsu and said "If I lease on of these, what sort of discount could I expect?" Sales manager straight out, without looking anything up, said $8-$10k... As it happened, it was $10k. Margins are huge...

According to this site Site Link (which is locked)
Nissan will be using the Navistar International 4.5L V6 Common Rail Diesel which is also supplied to Ford LCF trucks in the US. It is also the baby version of the 6L V8 Powerstroke diesel fitted to Ford F250s US Spec from 2002-2006

Worth Reading PT
The 100 series is already a bit big for the bush , and it easy to see why 3lt is 80% of patrol sales.
Have started to see snippets re an uprated 3.0lt CRD Nissan engine elsewhere but I think most would be hoping for a bigger capacity.
I don't think I could look at Nissan 3lt until its old 4 speed auto box is replaced either.
At least Nissan seem to be keeping the 4800 petrol , and it may
well yet crack it to be the lowest life cycle cost big wagon yet.

Not only was I interested in the Landcruiser and Patrol issues, I was also very interested in the possibility of Toyota introducing some mid range vehicles based on the new 70 series.
Depending upon the suspension/drive train and motor configurations it may be that we could see some 'harder core' tojo 4 x 4s come back into the market.

The cab chassis Nissan may now be a worthwhile proposition if available with auto. These things are a bit overpriced with the old engine, may even bring the price down if you could get it with the 3litre. Would love to see a dual cab so as I could replace the old Hilux with something new.

Nothing here makes me think that looking around for a 60 series turbo diesel and fixing it up a bit isn't a better option for the bush. Especially when you factor depreciation into the figures.
