Hi People,
Im a newby and looking without any success for any campsites outside of
Perth. I have been trying everywhere to find what
camp sites are available within a 1-2 hour drive. We really prefer the coastline and have looked at
Wilbinga though CALM told us you cant
camp there.
Can anyone tell me please is there anywhere to
camp with a family in reasonably close vicinity to
Perth as i am just about to give up.
What ever happened to years ago when you could just pull up anywhere and pitch a tent, i would like to have my kids experience that though it seems impossible.
thanx all

shure. Dunno bout the coast line but there are campsites in thAvon Valley National Park, next to the
avon River.going South there is the lane
pool Cons area out of Dwellingup with numerous sites on the
murray river. A bit further south you can
camp at
Wellington dam or
Honeymoon pool. and to the East I think you can
camp at Leschenaultia. near chidlow
Be warned this close to the city all the spots charge like wounded bulls and get crowded on weekends/holiday periods
BTW people
camp at Wibanga all the time

Dwellingup is good, but don't go there on long weekends as it fills up. Family friendly, close, bit of stuff to explore etc.
Can't help with the coast as in my opinion beach camping sounds great, but I reckon it's horrible when you actually get down to it.
Some of the good folk here should be able to point you in the right direction.

There are two good books on campsites available from the Map & Chart
Shop in Collie St
Fremantle. (no affiliation)
Good luck and have fun!

There are lots of
places to go to. One problem you have though is the limited free
places left to
camp due to the urban sprawl, but you will find some.
There are some very goods books avialable that you can buy. There is:
1. Camping in WA by Boiling Billy Publications
2. Roads and Tracks of WA by QPA Publications
3.
Free Camping in South West WA
4.
Free Camping in Northern WA
Or you can go to the link in V8 Diesels post to get you to another good site dedicated to camping in WA.
