Has anyone had off-road experience, with jerry can HOLDERS?
Supercheap sell lockable ones that look reasonably sturdy, however would like some feedback on how
the spot welds hold up, with corrugations;
creek xings etc.
They attach with 4 bolts on the rear bumper of the van (after I weld an extra 1" RHS to bolt to), and I plan on adding a extra bolt to a vertical stay.
....................thanks................Keith

Not sure about the legallity (yes that hated word again) regarding the fixing/carrying of fuel containers to the rear of a caravan. Someone else might have the right answer or better still to be absolutely sure - check with authorities. Might save some embarrassment down the track. I consider it an unecessary risk (rear end collision wise).

Hi Dio - yes, I did consider that, and there is space between the spare wheel, and the van. The spare is mounted on a very solid vertical stay, out from the rear bumper, hence minimizing danger from rear-end collision.

Yeah I tied two x twenty liters with rope onto the trailer and I took them a long way and up the cape and back across the middle. Dumb cluck that I am I lost them when the tie off fitting I fixed to the trailer snapped off.

I've used the TJM jerry can holders for a number of years in the bush and they are of good build quality.

Why not just put
water filled jerry cans in them? No insurance hassles then. Even just take them off.
Nearly every camper trailer on the road has jerry can holders on the side or front of them. Never seen them on the rear though.
