GU Patrol Gearbox

Hi all ....you might remember a few weeks ago i posted on here (post 40787) about the probs with the gearbox in my patrol, well i picked the patrol up this arvo from repairer and so far cant be any happier, the gear changes are nice and smoothe , no noises totally different car altogether to the point where i dont even want to sell it anymore , cause i had made my mind up that once i got it back i was going to quit it....now for diagnosis apparently the 5th gear prob was not an issue this time , but it seems some of the bearings that were supposed to be replaced last time were a bit sus , so a complete new set of bearings were put in , also had transfer case rebuilt at same time ...new clutch plate , they showed me the old one and although there was still ample meat on it the centre of it had a lot of wear and the mechanic seems to think that was more so the rattle that i could hear....all up with parts and labour it cost $3024.00 to fix , sure im bleep about having to fork out all that money , but the way i look at it now is i can keep the 4by for another 10 yrs and hopefully have no further probs....that price also included having my tappets adjusted...couldnt believe how much smoother it runs , also seems a little more responsive on the throttle down low...........Cheers .....Dave
