Hi All,
I have booked in for the diesel gas conversion and am having it done mid feb. I have a 1997 NA 1HZ 80 Series with 150K on the clock. Will let you know how it all goes what sort of power increases I get. I am mainly after a bit more power to hold a gear while towing. I was going to fir extractors at the same time but I think I will wait till the gas is done and see how it goes. If it dosent give me enough power then I will bolt on a turbo as
well. I have gone the gas first as we get a WA rebate as
well as the federal gov rebate and it will ontl be costing me a $1000 after the rebates. And if I want to fit a turbo later then the gas will add power yet agian. Will keep you all informed.
Matt

Hi Matt
I am considering this for my Patrol. Where abouts in WA are you getting this done and do you have any idea off hand what the waiting list for this is, as I would ideally like to get it done prior to the end of this financial year if possible.
Cheers
Richard

Hi Richard,
I am having it fitted at Bayswater. I just rang up diesel-gas in SA(got there number off the net). They put me onto the head office in
Perth(Malaga 08 92093431) and I spoke to someone there(Mark I think). They told me about what sort of power gains to expect and all that stuff. I booked just before christmas and could have got in earlier but I have been away. Hope this helps

Thanks Matt for that information. What is involved in getting the rebate back from both the state and federal governments and the times frames on said refund?

I spoke to the people at diesel gas in WA and they said they will supply me with all the forms when the conversion is done. So I am tipping a few weeks, though I bought a waterwise washing maching about 2 years ago and the rebate from the WA state government came back in about 2 weeks. Amazing

Hi Matt,
I am very interested in your experiences, please keep us all informed. I have a 1HZ 100 series and am looking at options to get a bit more power out of the motor.
What size gas tank is being installed and where? Where will you fill it from? Will you run gas all of the time or is there a preferred usage method i.e. after you reach operating temperature etc.
I'll keep an eye out for future posts.
Cheers.

Hi Grumpy,
I have the normal fuel tanks(90lt main and 55lt sub) and the gas tank goes where the spare would normally go. It is smaller than a spare so clearance shouldnt be an issue. I have a twin wheel carrier on the back so that will take care of the spares. They calculate how much capacity is in your diesel tanks and fir a gastank to suit. I have 145lt of diesel and I think that it runs about 20%gas so that should be 35-40lt gas tank. They told me if I run out of gas the car will just drive like a normal diesel with no adverse effects.
Cheers

Hi Matt, that for that, a couple of more questions for you if you don't mind.
1. How do you fill the gas tank?
2. Do you feel the need to protect the tank with a bash plate?
3. Does this installation get in the way of the turbo installation? Have you confirmed?
4. Do you know of any web pages to look up for a bit more info?
Thanks.

1. Not sure. Havent really looked into that bit. Dare say they put a hole in the back rear quarter near the fuel filler.
2. I will just because I am a bit of a overkill merchant. I will just fab something up out of plate.
3. Can be fitted fine with a turbo at a latter date(if turbo required). All depends on if the car has a factory tacho or not. Apparently there is a sensor they fit to get the diesel speed and if there is a chance that you are going to put on a turbo they will put the sensor in another spot.
4. www.dieselgas.com.au/
home.htm
There is another site if you google diesel gas and work your way through them. Hope this helps
