Well only posting this cause it's the first time I've seen a fuel cell advertised in a national newspaper magazine. Page 60 of the Fin Review magazine, their new stuff pages, includes the "EFOY Fuel Cell, a pollution-free, noiseless generator that runs on pure methanol. The size of a sowing machine and weighing a couple of kilograms ..." No specs on the add and no website just a phone number. Can someone cash in some of their super and gives us a review ? Not that at $5,999 I'll be buying one (for a decade or so I expect).

Interesting.

Was just talking to my son about fuel cells the other day.

He is doing a degree in photonics and nanotechnology, and for his honours is doing a thesis on hydrogen storage alternatives for fuel cells.we often talk about fuel cells.

He reckons fuel cell membranes are only just getting effecient with now being 10 to 14 molecules thick. Reckons they may really need to get down to about 4 or less to be very effecient. It is coming.

Interesting they are using methonal as the source of hydrogen, but they don't seem to show it in the picture!

And don't they make water as a by-product ?

Thats the great thing about it.
Water is the byproduct.

All you got to do is make the hyrdogen (in what ever form) in an environmental basis. Honda did propose using solar cells and hydrolysis to male the hydrogen.

Other hassle is storing and carrying hydrogen.
Thats what my son is about to work on. Can't say too much there :O)

You can use hydrocarbons of any sort as well, which sort of negates the advantage over normal fuels like petrol and diesel. This mob propose methonal which I suppose could come from a crop. Biodiesel or ethonol would work, but at the moment burning it in an engine may work better.

Just don't let him carry on his research in your garage.....BOOM !
Sodium, hydrogen, pressure tanks etc......
