you have all probably no doubt seen all teh bad press re 4WD owners........
Well they are now branding ute owners as hoons. A TV program down here in SA recently had a segment on Utes, you know the ones with bug mud flaps, aerials and usually a Burbon sign somewhere. The poly on the tele stated that anyone in a ute is usually driving with a meat pie in one hand and a coke in the other..........funny how you can brand an entire population of people by one or two bad experiences.

I feel sorry for the ute owners......although it may take a little heat of 4WD owners for a while.

It sux but i know i do the same with people who drive cars like alfa romeo's etc......instead of a meat pie and coke they have a mobile in one hand a lip stick in the other.....

had a guy at the shopping centre the other day stop me and ask how i handled driving such a large car and being (extremely) pregnant...i said that it is alot easier to drive because it is big....then he had the hide to ask if i took it off road at all......something along the lines of " see all those stickers, the size of the tyres and the type they are, the dints and scratches...and oh yeah the mud.....they arent on there for the fun of it!! " ....... i told him that it gets used for the reason it was made....not just to look good....

Driver1,
its funny ain't it. There is a particular guy that works with me that has an Alfa worth around 70k. He is intrigued that I spend money on my 4WD so I can go bush. I have a long way to go before I have spent 70k.

PS Did you show the guy the marks where you tried to destroy your parents house:-) just joking...really just joking.

he saw those ... didnt say anything.....must have been the marks from "hitting that damn tree !! " that he was touching!!! LOL !!!

I got a friend...she's just left actually.... that spent $10,000 on a trip through wa last year, hiring 4wd, camper trailer, flights buying all the camping gear over there.....wonders why i would spend $4000 on getting suspension and car fitted out for our trip.....atleast mine is reusable!!!
i love some peoples thinking!!

Yeah, they're on the mobile to the dealer organising a time to fix yet another problem :-)) But if you ask them, they call it "Italian character" :-)

Pete, you're too generous - It'll be worth 5 grand next year :-)

it is very easy to brand a certain niche of the population. Geez, i have done it before... xmas just gone... bloody hilux drivers on fraser island (no offence intended to hilux drivers) but 80% of the 'luxs "we saw" on fraser were driven by 'the hoon type' (ie... their vb bommodore with a fully sic 202 is in the shed at home). wow, look at that, now its commodore drivers...

agreed tho, it will keep the heat off the 4b owners for a while... albiet a short while!

I guess, we keep to ourselves, enjoy parts of the country that the greater population cant, do our little bit to ensure we dont lose access to the places we love, leave the hoons stuck where they were for acts of stupidity & last of all, pray that nissan's next model patrol isnt released with IFS.

Hahah Tom you made me smile!

Been awhile since a VB dunnydore with 202 was ever thought of as 'fully sic'!!

Now its a VY with 20" rims and no suspension thats fully sic!!

All the best! Matt..

Most of the utes round here (Canberra region) equipped like that have a CONARGO PUB sticker on them somewhere.

Imagine my surprise when travelling to my hotel in Dubai, United Arab Emirates and I pass a standard Subaru Forester with a CONARGO PUB sticker on the back of it....... Is there no escape ? .... lol

Cheers ... Taz

Toytruck, was it one of the commercial stations, 7, 9 or 10? They tend to make generalisations like that just to get a reaction to boost ratings.

I had the tv on 10 today for some reason when they had Bob Brown and the environment minister on talking about climate change. EVERYTHING those two said was argued against by some random third bloke on the show who I've never seen before.

It is common for these low-life shows to have someone on for the one and only reason to stir up controversy.
