Hello all,
I am looking at buying a new hard canopy for my new dual cab ute, but which one.
Has anyone had experiences good or bad with the ARB, TJM of Flexiglass canopies. I would be interested to hear your
feedback.
Regards
Batman.

Go with the ARB one.
I have a TJM one on the Triton and being two piece construction it does not look as good as the ARB one.
With the ARB one you can get the canopy trade rack system also. I modified the ARB one to suit my canopy.
If I had my time again I would definately go the ARB one.
Cheers Kev

I've had good service out of a flexiglass on my dual cab.
I'm in the market for a dropside with canopy at the moment so will keep an eye on this thread.

previuosly had an ARB canopie and it was good,I also opted for opening side windows for easy access.
The only thing I wasn't happy about was that they hacked off the ute headboard

Hi there shane, same thing happened to my mate's rodeo, I helped him take the canopy off only last week due to a water leak, ok he's had it on there now for 11 years (since new) but he was spewing you should have seen the way they had cut his off mate there was a gaping slice of the rear top of the tray missing and obviously filled with sticker flex or the like and due to age etc was starting to go brittle and break away and let the water in absolutely disgusting workman ship. Luckily he's a welder so angle grinded the rust away that had formed and plated it some new sticker flex and all is good again. Luckily he didnt see that when it was new the bloke would have had one sore as@ my mates about 6"3 and as wide as an outside shi@house. He calmed down now all ok. Steve M

Have a mate with the TJM on a DC Triton, we had this debate when we both purchased our Tritons. I went with ARB and I'm glad I did... His rear window pops open over rough terrain, it leaks quite profusely in heavy rain and the finish is not nearly as asthetically pleasing as my ARB.
Just my 0.02c on what I've seen, I'm sure there are many stories which will reverse the outcome above.
One thing I will say is get the tradies side windows, makes getting to the things at the front of
the tub a hell of a lot easier.

I have to agree Blue, I have the TJM and it bleep s me no end that you have to lock the rear canopy door for it to stay shut. The sliding windows leak like a sieve and I'm slowly filling all the possible leak points with sikaflex.
Cheers Kev

Hi there Batman, I have flexiglass on the hilux, while it has been a good canopy I also have to lock the rear door or the handle will vibrate itself open. Happened while down the high country just before xmas was going along a track and when we pulled up for morning tea I went around to back of canopy and found it with the door open (braindead me forgot to lock it), everything covered in dust from top to bottom luckily my struts are stuffed and the weight of the door helped hold it down so it didnt open write up and couldnt believe we didnt lose a thing due to the excess crap my wife insists we take it was packed in so tight that nothing had moved wasnt going back for anything if we had. Never had this problem when it was new only due to its age that it now has a few pin hole leaks from windows etc (rubber shrinkage) but overall has been a great canopy. I would take the advice from above and definately get the side lift ups as
well, my knees were stuffed after a week of jumping up and down on the rear tailgate getting stuff in and out. I will to take the advice when purchasing my next canopy for the new vehicle. Even it has a standard canopy on it I will sell it and buy the one with side doors. Steve M

Steve,
That why I ended up buying a cargo drawer as it still allows large items to be carried but I am able to reach all items in the back. But even with it I would get side opening windows.

Hi All ,
Have a Flexiglass on the courier dual cab.One of the best available IMHO
Have had the same trouble with the door rattling undone.
Fixed it with a medium/light spring from the handle to a suitable screw on the frame internally.
Good Luck with your search
Cheers
Disco
(who also has a Courier.)
Solved it , but I still lock the door off road

Thanks to all for your
feedback, I'll definitely go for the ARB one now.
I was planning on having the LHS lift up window and the RHS sliding, main reason is to have RHS one open a little if there is a hound in the back and also to help stop a little dust ingress, by slightly pressurising the back.
We'll see how it goes, thanks again for your help.
Batman.
