I have read a lot on this forum about Honda and Kipor generators, but one advertised in the caravaning mags so far has not had a mention, Genquip, I was wondering weather to take this as a positive sign or not. As we are in the market for a gennie I would like to hear from anyone who has one or has heard either good or bad about these gennies.
Cheers neil!MPG:4!

I assume you are a honda fan, or have you actually heard anything about Genquip?
Cheers neil
P.S. if I am only going to use it 2 or 3 times a year, I don't see how I can justify the extra dollars, unless they are total duds.

Yo Neil,

Have done much research via this forum and on my own.

The gold award always seems to go with the Honda. I currently have one on lay-by 2kva job.

I do know for a fact that there has been quite a few probs with the Kipor (also see on this forum) and one dealer in Cairns will no longer sell due to the number of returns.

As far as the genquip goes I really do not have any knowledge save they very rarely get a mention here .....
Grrr!!!

Further to my last- just had a check of the genquip and it is a rebadged KIPOR.

Don't go near them = I know some swear by the Kipor but as has been stated - you get what you pay 4.

Grrr!!!

I don't believe you can compare a Honda with a Kipor. Genquip rings a bell but I haven't had experience with the product.

It's the old story "you get what you pay for".

Kim

Thanks I also think along those lines, but there is always exceptions to the rule, so I thought someone out in forum land may have either heard or had personal experience with Genquip, you think if they were total rubbish CW magazine would shy away from promoting them.
Cheers and thanks Kim

Yes that is what got me thinking , no mention on this forum, which seems to have things pretty well covered, might have to be well behaved and try and convince she who must be obeyed to increase my allowance.
Cheers Crazy Dog, and thanks

Also look at Yamaha. I've had a 700w unit for around 25 years and it's been an excellent little unit.

It'd be helpful is you let us know what you want to use a generator for. I purchased a 2kva Honda 18 months ago which is capable of running power tools for bush repairs. However, if you only need to run a fridge, lights etc one of the smaller capacity models will do fine.

Kim

Thankyou one and all for your help, I think maybe Honda is the way to go, the 20 model as we want to run our caravan which in the near future will have aircon.
Thanks again
Cheers neil
