Just had three great days in Cobram - right on the Murray - about 5 minutes outside the township of Cobram - in the Regional
Park - fantastic place - heatps of spots - as near or as far from other campers as you want - free - but do need to be self sufficient - there are pit
toilets at the main spots like Big
Toms Beach, Dead End Beach etc - but there are more people
camping there as
well.
We had a lovely little spot to ourselves - entertainment most of the day watching skiers, would-be skiers, and kids having a ball being towed on those inflatable thingys - looked like a lot of fun.
We camped there a few years back (in tent days) one
Easter - heaps of people there then - but we still managed a good spot right on the bank of the river. There are also heaps of tracks to practice your 4wd skills or motorbike skills.
Hope
places like this stay like this - - only wish people would take their rubbish with them when they leave - its not too much to ask is it, for the privilege of enjoying a nautral unspoilt area?

Hi Julie,
Sounds like a great spot. Do you have a GPS location for it or directions from the highway or town ?
Cheers ... Taz

Don't have GPS - but if you head to Cobram from your end along Murray Valley Highway - go in as if going into township - keep going down road past hospital, pub at a roundabout - about second street down in Wondah Street (childcare place on corner) all the way down there - and there it is
miles of
camping, right on the banks of the Murray - you can also go in from the Cobram-Tocumwal road - at Friesian Road - (like the cows).

What is the firewood situation like ?...we are heading up there in April for a bit of fishing and relaxation and enjoy sitting around the fire at night with a glass or so of our favourite wine....and is there nice flat spots where it easy to launch a car topper boat.....nice to know in advance...cheers

Can't remember if there were signs re collecting firewood or not - but plenty of people in the area had fires - we didn't as it was too warm - and the grass is just too dry at the moment - there are a lot of areas around to get wood though - there are several beaches which are ideal for launching boats - and there is
Thompsons Beach - no
camping - with a proper
boat ramp just up the road - but you should have no problem from Big
Toms Beach it is very flat there.
There are some wineries in the area too - so maybe you can add to your wine collection.
