Hi guys and gals
Leigh and I are considering taking part in the cane toad invation of the National EO gathering in SA.
What I am after is some info on the shortest route from the gathering to the Great Ocean Road at Warrnambool. Just trying to get a bit of a rough itinerary together and thought local knowledge might help out with good and bad roads to take.
We will be towing an off road camper.
I have city navigator v7 on lap top but does not always show the best route.
Thanks in advance
Ross

Just tag along with John R& Moses. He will be leaving from Warnambool and heading up there.
Probably shortest way would be up to Adelaide then a couple of choices from there. Either way are interseting and not much difference from there. Option 1 would be up Nat Highway 1 and north up to Quorn or take the road through Clare and through Peterborough.

South till you find mobs of water, turn left and look for John R. He should be easy to find :)) Follow him for a few days until you get to his gate. Then ask him where the heck you are LOL

Ross

I have done that run from Warrnambool to Peterborough in 9 hours. Peterborough to Warraweena is about 3.5 hours. So its a long haul.

Best take a break in between and make it a two day trip. Nice campsite at Narrung Ferry Crossing south of Tailem Bend and slightly off the main route.

Cheers

Willem has given it to you Ross. There are plentty of lovely places in between you should stop though but have a heater with you for July nights. The Great Ocean Road starts near to Warrnambool but there are plenty of places in SA like the Coorong you should see, some of the sand driving spots like Robe, Beachport, and Carpenters Rocks along the coast in South Aussie. The Florieu Peninsula is well worth it too, nice wineries too.

In Victoria before you get to the GOR there is Nelson, Descartes Bay, Bridgewater, Port Fairy area then get the roads near to the GOR before Peterborough Victoria. Places like Childers Cove, the bays off Mathiesons Road, Bay of Islands West of Peterborough is every bit as beautiful as the Apostles.

Ross there are weeks of things to do in the area so be prepared. Am sure we will catch up at Warraweena.

We used to market the area to visitors years ago mate, so we have a "things to do" list if you want it.
